Arts Practices in African Culture: A Brief OverviewArts practices (especially dance and music) are a central component of African cultures. Within the African cultures, art is used in everyday experiences such as worshiping, work, naming of a child, and wedding. Arts practices act as a form of entertainment and a form of storytelling. Africa itself have many different communities of different background, but when all the different communities come together, art becomes beautiful. Different communities have different way of expressing their culture through art practices, but what all the African cultures share through art is their experiences in their daily life.

Art is used to give life to the values, emotions and daily customs of the various ethnic communities. Within Africa, art and culture are one together that makes history. Worshiping and religious belief is what makes African art so unique because it gives life and melody to make the perfect team when put together.

An Anthropological Look at Dance |
Anthropologically, dance can be used as a tool to "express and negotiate identity, social transformation and political upheaval in ways that are active, dynamic and contribute to the creation of new social relations and norms" (Kaiser, 2006).
